Credit Card Debt Late Twenties and Broke Net Worth Updates

How I Increased My Net Worth by Over 200% in 2 Years

Well jeeeeeeeeeeeez, it’s been quite a while huh?
Let’s see what the ol’ net worth is doing these days.

I’m your host Jonny F, and this is Late Twenties and Broke. Have a seat!

My last net worth update was when I did my taxes, back in March 2024. Since then I’ve travelled the world, partially on my dime and partially on my employer. But a lot of it was at my expensve! Haha. Including 3 unscheduled trips to Canada.

Could I have saved more? 100%. Do I regret visiting home so many times this year? Not in the slightest. After barely being home for so many years, it was important that I see my parents (especially as they get to wiser and wiser ages.)

So how has my net worth changed since March? Bitcoin surged up again, I unloaded my BNB, Palantir shot up (for no good reason, it’ll drop back down), and uh….I bought a lot of plane tickets on my 0% interest, 2% cashback credit card.

Without further ado, let’s dig into the numbers.

To jog your memory, this was March 2024:

PLTR$3,201.00(200 shares). $4,595.84 Bro whaaaaaaaaaaat! PLTR is finally recovering? Hahaha. Now I’m only, “only”, ONLY down $2,100 on this stock. That’s nice.
KO$1,914.00 (32.06 shares) $1,963 (32.06 shares) Floating up $50 in value, but can float right back down too. No new shares added.
DOW$666.37(12.15 shares).$713.48 (12.3 shares) Ayyyye, little DRIP action, .15 shares added. I like it.
VZ $296.21 (7.35 shares)$312.75 (7.465 shares) Thank you for the dividend, Mr.Verizon Man.
MO$1,245.39 (30.01 shares). $1,341.53 (30.7 shares) You know, I put in a 90-day limit sell on this and it never hit. So ultimately, I think this stock is circling the drain. It should’ve hit, it shoudl’ve sold, and I should’ve regretted selling it. That’s what was supposed to happen. But the limit sell never hit, and now I own even more of it. Oh well haha.
TM$392.74 (2.09 shares)$526.22 (2.09 shares). I definitely missed some news on this one. Doubled for no reason? There’s probably a reason. But I’m not gonna google it this moment. Holding 5ever.
RITM$55.46 (4.94 shares) This is a daily $6 buy for me, but I’ve only been at it about 10 days haha. Big dividend percentage though – that’s why I want to grow this one.
STRC$68.47 (100 shares). $189.57 . This one tripled?? Okay, I really gotta stay off google. Whatever these fools are doing, is working.
EDIT$22.01(SOLD) *This is from last update, but the philosophy is still true*. I got in at $7/share, got out 2 months later at $11/share for 2 shares. I’m just tired of putting money into “exciting new” stocks and then getting stuck with a loss (*cough* Palantir *cough*). I’d rather put the money into solid dividend companies or real estate.
Bitcoin$12,207 (0.274 BTC)$19,620 (0.275 BTC). Up SEVEN THOUSAND USD in less than 3 months. I’m not selling til it hits at least 89 or 90,000/coin though. A 300% return would be pretty sweet.
BNB coin$1,043.77 (3.38BNB). $1,984 (3.4 BNB). Well goddamn, she jumped up alright. Probably sell when it hits $600/coin again? I mean, she’s close. But at the same time, I’m getting a steady stake on it. So why sell?
DOGE (Sold)$132.05(1601 coins). Sold @ $150.77(1601 coins)
Soldddddddddddddd. Finally got that off my books. Watch, it’ll go 10x 2025 now that I don’t have it anymore haha.
Silver Coins&Bars$2,000 (Haven’t purchased any precious metals in years)
Employer 401K $29,945.79 $34,330
RRSPs trapped in Canada$6,778USD $5,953 USD.
Chequing$104.97 $1289.42
Savings $6,473 $6,549 I put my credit card cashback here sometimes. Haha.
Savings Certificate$1670 $1925.44 I was adding to this heavily when I didn’t have credit card debt to worry about. But then I bought my mom a bunch of furniture and some cross-border travel (a few borders, haha). So, paused on this one for at least a couple months.
Total Assets $66,893.19 $81,444.80 Bro what?!?!?!?!
Damn. That’s awesome. Between BTC, PLTR, and BNB. And of course, my 401K contributions. It’s adding up.
Credit Card #1$0.00 New balance: $-1,935.44
Credit Card #2$0.00 New balance: $-777.97
Credit Card #3$0.
Total Debt$0.00 $-2,713.41
March 2024 Total: $68,839.19 $78,731.39  “70K by summer” was my goal. I have now shattered that goal, and it’s not even March. Will the market tank by then? Who knows – probably haha.

And now, we’ll do the real update with Dec 2024’s numbers:

And now, let’s dig into March 2024’s numbers:

PLTR$4,595.84 (200 shares). $13,388
Crazy jump! This is just pumped up, it will drop like a rock at some point. Share price is $66.94, for no reason.  That being said, I am 100% okay with my calls being executed at the $35 mark – $150 profit per 100 shares is totally fine with me. I was underwater on this position 6 grand for years haha.
KO$1,963 (32.06 shares ) $2,100, (32.79 shares) I received $47 in DRIP, better than nothing. I’ll take it haha.
DOW$713.48(12.15 shares).$781.63 (17.63 shares) I picked up 5 shares when the price dropped to $52.65, which was a good deal. While doing this update, I saw the share price is only $44.32 today! So I put in a buy for 3 shares. This is a great time to load up. By adding those 5 shares, my dividend went from $8 to $12. So I’m happy to add 3 more shares.
VZ $312.75.21 (7.465 shares)$347.46 (7.84 shares) Between March and now, I’ve received $15.24 in dividends.
MO$1,341.53 (30.7 shares). $1,904.75 (32.73 shares) I originally had a limit sell on this position, but it never went through. But to be honest, I’ve received $93.63 in dividends since March from this one, so I think I’ll keep it haha.
TM$526.22 (2.09 shares)$171.27 (2.11 shares). Last time it doubled – now it dropped to below-normal. Whatever – I still like Toyota haha.
STRC, name changed to PDYN (Palladyne)$189.57 (100 shares). $679.22
Last update it went from $68 to $168, and now jumped to $679. Probably I should sell this one? Or just let this lottery ticket keep going. I dunno.
KULRBought at 69 cents a share because my friend bought it and told me about it, fully thinking it wouldn’t go anywhere.

It went from $69 to $115, which is a 65% jump (kinda crazy), but really only $46 haha.
ME (23AndMe)$53.25 (15 shares) I bought 100 shares of this when it was hovering around 50 cents.

But less than a month later, they did a reverse 6 to 1 split and artificially raised the price. As of today it is $3.55/share and I only have 15 shares instead of 100 – so I can’t sell calls. The whole reason I buy these lottery ticket stocks is so I can sell calls haha, while also waiting for long term appreciation and a good exit point.
Bitcoin$19, 620 (0.274 BTC)$29,036 (0.298 BTC). I’m not selling til it hits at least 89 or 90,000/coin though.

Up another 10 grand! Damn. I actually sold my BNB for a total of $2,100 USD, but it was stuck in a series of wallets and exchanges and weird tokens (USDT SmartChain), until the easiest option was just to put in Bitcoin.
BNB coin$1,043.77 (3.38BNB). $1,984 (3.4 BNB). Well goddamn, she jumped up alright. Probably sell when it hits $600/coin again? I mean, she’s close.

Sold! For $2,100.
Silver Coins&Bars$2,000 (Haven’t purchased any precious metals in years)
Employer 401K $29,945.79 $41,736
RRSPs trapped in Canada$3,219 USD.
TSLA stock trapped in Canada$5,183 USD
Chequing$1289.42 $917
Savings $6,473 $8,057 I put my credit card cashback here sometimes. Haha.
Savings Certificate$1925.44 $2595.00 Added some to this one, but my focus right now is paying off the credit card, from my trips to Canada.
Total Assets $81,444.80 $112,283.58
Damn. That’s a nice jump right there.
Credit Card #1$1,935.46 This one has been climbing unfortunately.  $-4,828.96
Credit Card #2$-777.97 Paid off.  $0
Credit Card #3$0.
Total Debt$0.00 $-4,828.96
December 2024 Total: $78,731.39 $107,454.62

Well hot damn, this is my first time being worth $100 grand.

It’s crazy – I really smashed that goal and achieved that. When I first started this blog, oh my God. I was really worth like $29,000. That was in October 2021, just 3 years and 2 months ago.

My net worth in April 2022 was $44,000 though. So in 2 and a half years, I was able to improve my net worth by 243%, or said a different way, I was able to flip my net worth 2.43 times.

What were my biggest gains?
1. Bitcoin, for sure

2. Relentless 10% monthly contributions to my 401K, with 5% employer match.

3. Always putting in the effort to pay down my stupid credit cards so I don’t get ripped off ungodly bad (just regular bad) on interest payments.

4. Always having my money working, having my capital EMPLOYED. If I left all my cash in my basic chequing account, it would not have grown like this. And the whole time, over those 3 years, it would be losing its’ buying power and the monetary supply of US dollars continues to expand and dilute itself. I mean, how much of my gains are merely inflation masquerading as gains? Haha.

Well that’s plenty of typing for today. And plenty of math, too. My next moves will be:

  1. Continuing the daily buy for RITM, and pretty soon, enjoying the dividends.
  2. Unloading my STRC (now PDYN) and moving that money into a dividend stock. Which one? Well I wish Dividend Pig was still active! Hahaha. I would just copy his picks for the month.
  3. Paying off my credit card (again.)
  4. Increasing the amount sitting in my savings account (emergency fund) and also max out my savings certificate at the bank. It maxes out at $3,000 though, so I’d only be parking another $400 there. But still, why not.

That’s it for me folks, thank you for reading along. If you’re 29 and you think it’s too late to start – just start.

Remember, I’m rooting for ya.

Until next time, I’m your host Jonny F and this is Late Twenties and Broke.
